When is ECP Implemented?
ECP is an intervention designed by a BCBA and implemented by RBTs, in order to decrease incorrect responses (or errors) by providing an increase in learning opportunities for correct responses and access to reinforcement.
Your clients BCBA will provide you with specific procedures to follow as an RBT if the BCBA chooses to use an alternative ECP, other than the general procedure provided in this training. Other ECPs may be utilized in order to individualize client programming and increase independence in responding.
It is important to remember, it is the BCBA’s decision to implement ECP and the RBT’s role to follow the procedures chosen for the client, collect data accurately, and run program with both competence and fidelity!
Throughout this module, we will be teaching you the standard ECP. This should be utilized when your BCBA gives the directive to use ECP but does not have a specific ECP in mind or outlined in the programming.
